The South Georgia K9 Training & Certification Workshop, hosted by the Dooly County and Houston County Sheriffs' Offices, offers K9 teams training and certification with officials from the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA). The knowledge, insight, and experience of these individuals are essential to the successful accomplishment of the workshop's mission.

IMPLEMENTATION OF PATROL CANINES WITH SWAT

Sean Doyle is a Police Service Dog Handler for Rapid City and a certified PSP Instructor.

He is also an entry team member as well as the Team Leader on the multi-agency Special Response Team. Currently, he is a dog support element as a dog team for SRT.  He has attended multiple schools to include Basic SWAT, Advanced SWAT, Hostage Rescue, Advanced Hostage Rescue, Tubular Assaults, SWAT Leadership, Desert Snow, S.K.I.D.D.S. and numerous officer survival schools.

INTEGRITY IN DETECTION

1)A Horse, Detection Dogs, Handlers and Lawyers:
Avoiding the pitfalls that create problem behaviors and accusations of impropriety in Detection

A look at canine behavior, training and testing to provide reliable and defensible teams.

2)Understanding the theory and use behind electronic canine training.

This is a basic class in how the collar works to assist in training the police dog, both theory and practical applications.

Kevin Sheldahl is a retired Deputy Sheriff who began training with police service dogs in 1982. In his career, he trained K-9 Teams for his department as well as neighboring departments as a Deputy Sheriff. He has experience deploying patrol, detection, SWAT and tracking canines spanning the duration of his career. He is credentialed as a Master Instructor, Certifying Official, and Police Dog Judge. He has taught more than fifty courses as lead instructor in detection and patrol.
